MANILA, Philippines — A popular sex drug called Viagra has been seized by the Health Ministry after officials claimed that the drug was a “natural” version of the sex drug known as Cialis.
The seizure of the drug is the first of its kind in the Philippines and the first to be made available on the market, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
It is a synthetic version of the male hormone sildenafil, which is known by its brand name Viagra and has the same active ingredient as Cialis.
According to the official, the drug was tested on 10,000 men, and it was found to be the most effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. The drug has also been seized by the Health Ministry, which is responsible for regulating medical care and health services.
The drug was not approved for use in the country and was not included in a health-promoting program for sexual health. The drug was only sold as an erectile dysfunction drug but has been promoted for various uses such as performance enhancing drugs, such as Viagra and Cialis, as well as other drugs.
The FDA has warned that the drug is adulterated with undeclared active ingredients in the name of Viagra, and that it may interact with the blood pressure medication nitroprusside (also known as “the little blue pill”).
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also issued warnings to men who take the drug, the agency said.
“This is a very serious matter and there is a serious risk that it could be dangerous,” said a spokesperson from the FDA.
The company is conducting further tests on its manufacturing site in Metro Manila, but the site is still not available.
“We are conducting additional tests on the site and it is likely that a counterfeit product will be found,” the spokesperson added.
The FDA is concerned about the risk of taking a product with undeclared active ingredients.
“Any person who has bought this product online and bought the drug on the internet should be cautious and take precautionary measures,” the spokesperson said.
The company is also taking steps to protect its facilities from counterfeit or unsafe products. It is working with the FDA to ensure the safety of its facilities.
